Martial Arts Monday: Zodiac Workout Playlist

After spending all day trying to get the answers out of everyone, I’ve finally gotten a definitive workout play list of the Zodiac Family Training Playlist! I hope you enjoy our picks, please share with us your favorite workout songs as well.

Workout Playlist

When asked to pick their favorite songs, no one could pick just one, so I tried to keep everyone to a Top 3. Here’s what we have folks:

Hmmm top 3? Probably Death Valley by Fall Out Boy because its an angry alternative. Shut Up and Dance by Walk The Moon, because it literally makes me want to dance and/or workout. And any angry Carrie song (I cant really pick on if her’s, they’re all really good). - BLONDIE

Locked out of heaven. I love running to that song and it’s really peppy. I also like ‘where Are you now’, the one w/ Justin Bieber...the BPM’s are similar and it’s cool. It just matches the timing for the speed that I run really well. - ACE

There’s many many. But if I had to pick a favorite, like gun to my head no choice, Kanye’s Stronger for ‘working out’ and Worth It by time flies for running. Why? Because the mantra in stronger is something I’ve lived by and embraced myself for a long time and Worth It’s lyrics were literally just made for running. - KATE

Let the Games Begin by AJR usually opens my workouts. It’s a fun song and gets me in a good mood. Centuries by Fall Out Boy, High Hopes by Panic! At the Disco, You Know My Name (from the soundtrack of Casino Royale) by Chris Cornell, & Can’t Tell Me Nothing by Kanye West. Those four are all great motivation songs in my opinion. They all usually come up when I’m doing the hardest stuff in the workout. - THE ITALIAN

Confidence - Demi Lavoto because it gives me confidence. Miss Me More - Kelsea Ballerina because I can relate and it's fast paced. Dip it Low - Christina Milian because I love dancing! - DANCING ROSE

Fire Up The Night by New Medicine. Also riot girl by Good Charlotte. They have a good strong hype beat and they’re fairly fast paced to keep things moving plus I can sing along. - THE CHOSEN ONE

I can’t say I have a favorite song it's more like favorite genre to train to. It's super mood based. Anything by biggie or some edm. If I had to pick, Electricity by silk city, and we own it niykee heaton. - THE GORILLA PILLA

Skull Cave by Arkasia, Drought by Dropgun ft Nevve, 44 More by Logic. They feel Intense. Like the rush and struggle of combat, the exaltation of victory. - THE DREAD KNIGHT

There is no better song to lift weights to than Gaston! It’s an entire town singing about a big strong man and pumping up his pride. For training on a heavy bag or doing forms I like Kryptonite by Three Doors Down since I’ve always aspired to be as close to a living Superman as I possibly can. And to mix things up when teaching a class I’ve created a couple of workouts to Cotton Eye Joe, Cha-Cha Slide, and Born To Hand Jive (Grease) because I know my students just ‘love’ them.” - BIG CAT

And then theres this:

So you know me and my indecisiveness...Here's a list of some of the top songs I'd choose to workout to. Most of these songs have a repeating tempo that begins slower then increases to faster and paralleled softer to louder dynamic. To me they mirror  interval workouts; steady/consistent then a burst, repeated. I feel that all of them have a rhythm and melody that just make you wanna move.
